1. What shapes the sacred tone of your music?
The inspiration behind my songs is to sing about life experiences that breathe hope into hopeless situations. Each lyric becomes a gentle reminder that His presence reaches into the deepest places of your story, meeting you with mercy right where you are. My desire is for every song to show how near God truly is — attentive to your heart, aware of your struggles, and willing to walk with you through whatever you face, holding you in ways only He can.
2. What’s a lyric you wrote that still moves you deeply?
"Your eyes are not hidden from the truth of all the anguish I cleave to. Yet still you remain with arms open wide in the midst of it all."
This lyric shows that, if my thoughts feel tangled and the world drifts out of focus, God remains faithful and merciful in ways that meet me right where I am, holding me together when everything feels undone.
3. What’s the funniest thing that’s happened while recording?
On the first day of my recording, the producer stepped out to grab something to eat. I was alone in the studio, practicing the guitar, when a young woman in her twenties walked right in. I said hello and asked how I could help her. She asked about recording a song and how she could do it on her own.
I told her that the producer I was working with was amazing and that he was the best person to talk to about what she was looking for. She was about to leave, but I felt in my heart to let her stay. So, she quietly observed me singing.
The next day, I asked the producer how their conversation went. He thought I knew her. I said no — she just arrived, and I simply allowed her to stay and observe. She was a really sweet lady. We both laughed and said it was the first time a random stranger had ever walked into the studio while a song was being recorded.
My Story
Well, I started writing songs as a hobby after graduating high school. All of the songs I’ve written stem from enduring difficult situations and seeing how the Lord kept me through them all.
Because of my fear of performing my songs publicly, I took a step of courage and began sharing my music at church during services. For years, my songs remained dormant and in hiding due to lack of direction and the doubt that they would ever go anywhere.
What set me free from that negative mindset happened after I shared my song. I was approached by the worship leader, and she asked to sing “In Awe of You,” the song I created, during the worship set the next day. I agreed to let it happen. As I watched others singing the song I wrote — hands raised, hearts open — something in me healed. The disbelief I carried about my music, the fear that no one would like it, began to break.
Over the course of 20+ years, I have attempted more than once to create an album, but circumstances kept me from achieving that goal. To keep a promise I made to my mother, I am now recording these songs to honor her legacy and to be a blessing to others. This is my story and how I began my journey.
